PERSIDANGAN PENGETUA / GURU BESAR SBT, SKK & SBP TAHUN 2011

This grand event was held from 6th to 9th December in Summit Hotel Subang, USJ, Selangor.  It was the first conference organised by BahagianPengurusan Sekolah Berasrama Penuh dan Sekolah Kecemerlangan, Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia.  All great principals and headmasters or headmistress of excellence shools were invited to this event.

As an ordinary teacher, I felt very lucky that I was chosen to present my paper work in front of 110 heads of SKK (Sekolah Kluster Kecemerlangan). Just how I wished that my headmaster, Tuan Haji Yusof bin Abd Karim was there with me.

I presented my paper that first night of the conference.  The title for my presentation is PENGAJARAN DAN PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INGGERIS MELALUI BLOG.  Before the presentation, I was little bit worried that my presentation would fail to arouse the interest of the audience.  However, to my surprise, I got positive comments from the heads of the schools. In fact, they would love to have that kind of approach in their schools.  Alhamdulillah...

This is during the Q & A session.

The moment when Dato' Abd. Ghafar bin Mahmud, Ketua Pengarah Pelajaran, Kementerian Pelajaran cut his birthday cake.

I managed to capture this close-up photo during his greeting to the participants of the conference.

Grand Dinner Time.  I am so fortunate that I got the chance to know a lot of dedicated heads of the schools.  On my left is my roommate, Puan Tan Lee Ei, a headmistress from SJK (C) Ave Maria Convent, Ipoh and on my right is Pn Myrna Jean Campen, from SMK USJ 12, Subang Jaya and also Pn Faizah Ibrahim from  SMK Agama Sik, Kedah.

The best moment, I got the chance to meet my best Mathematics teacher when I was in Al-Mashoor (P) Penang, Pn Sharifah Afifah.  She is now a principal in SMK (P) St. George, Penang.

Pn Rosalind, the headmistress from Melaka and also the great moderator.  There are also Pn Chen, the principal of SMJK Ave Maria Convent, Ipoh and also Pn Wong Seok Ee from SMJK Sin Min, Sg Petani.

A photograph taken with Tan Sri Datuk Wira Abdul Rahman Arshad,Tuan Haji Rosland Husin, Tuan Haji Mat Kassim Mat Noah and participants of the conference.

This is going to be a memorable moment for me as I have a chance to take a photograph with
Tan Sri Datuk Wira Abdul Rahman Arshad, a person whom I look at him as
AN OCEAN OF KNOWLEDGE

This is another dedicated presented Pn Ruhayu bt Abd Shukor from SMK Putrayaja Presint 8 (1).
During this conference, I have the opportunity to meet a lot of heads, admins and teachers. My hope that the thing that I shared during the conference can be implemented in other schools to enhance and upgrade the teaching and learning in schools.  That's all for now.  Will be updating this blog from time to time...Wasalam.

My Ambition - Fatin Nur Alia

My ambition is to be a pilot because it is an interesting an challenging job .
Being a pilot must always ready to bear the burden . If I'm afraid to carry a huge burden in the plane , when the weight of the world is on my shoulders and it is depends to me to ensure that everyone has a safe journey ahead , I will not choose pilot as my occupation . Thus, I think I'm brave enough for all this . I'm also sure I will feel very proud wearing a pilot uniform on my working hours .

The reasons why I want to be a pilot also because the salary is high till I think some of the pilots doesn't know what to do with the money they earned . Actually , I don't care much about the salary as long as I can manage my life well . But , it would be great if working as a pilot allows me to earn a big income.

Lastly , the main reason why I want to be a pilot is , I can travel to many places in the world . I'm sure it would be really exciting . I can see the amazing other ways of life , the different culture , the scenery and also trying the unique taste of food .

I know that it would be hard to achieve my dream but I will keep trying until I'm successful .

My Ambition - Iqlisya Dania

My ambition is to be a doctor because it is a noble profession. This job is very glamorous. Moreover, I love science and biology very much, so, I am very interested with this profession.

I must study smart if I want to be a doctor and the most important is I must obtain good result in SPM so I can apply for medical course in university.

This profession is very interesting for me because there is no office time. Besides that, I can learn more about medication. I’ll be able to know what is in our body like the intestines.

In a nutshell, a job as doctor, can save a lot of people and have an excellent salary. It would make me happy and help me to continue my life in the future. Furthermore, every country must have a doctor to save their lives from getting sick.

"NO DOCTOR, NO HAPPINESS" :D

My Ambition

My ambition is to be a lawyer. I want to be a lawyer as it is an interesting job. I first inspired to become a lawyer when I saw my parents in the court. They were trying so hard to protect the innocent. It makes me proud to have such wonderful parents. I wanted to be just like them when I grow up. I hope that I will be a good lawyer just like my parents.

My Ambition - Nik Norazreen bt Mohd Alfaisal

My ambition is to become a very dedicated and hardworking physicist. Physicists are not that well-known, so most people did not even know what it is!

I want to be a physicist because it is a really interesting job.  Physicist study the natural world, from the tiniest subatomic particles to the largest galaxies. They do lots of cool experiments to discover the law of nature. They study what things are made of and how they behave. They also learn about energy, studying how it changes from one form to another. Like I said before, it is really really interesting and fascinating.

I don't care about how much the salary is. Even if my parents pressure me to take another profession besides it like medical or actuary, I'm still willing to be a physicist. When i was a kid, I used to play at the park or at the garden everyday and I told myself, "Wow, nature's really amazing!" Since then,  I started to care deeply for nature.

Being what I want to be is not that easy. Because of that, I need to be work hard and pray a lot so I can achieve my dream - being a great physicist.

PHRASAL VERB LIST

Phrasal Verbs List

Phrasal verbs are usually two-word phrases consisting of verb + adverb or verb + preposition. Think of them as you would any other English vocabulary. Study them as you come across them, rather than trying to memorize many at once. Use the list below as a reference guide when you find an expression that you don't recognize. The examples will help you understand the meanings. If you think of each phrasal verb as a separate verb with a specific meaning, you will be able to remember it more easily. Like many other verbs, phrasal verbs often have more than one meaning.
This list shows about 200 common phrasal verbs, with meanings and examples. Only the most usual meanings are given. Some phrasal verbs may have additional meanings.
As well as learning their meanings, you need to learn how to use phrasal verbs properly. Some phrasal verbs require a direct object (someone/something), while others do not. Some phrasal verbs can be separated by the object, while others cannot. Review this phrasal verbs grammar from time to time so that you don't forget the rules!

SILENT DOESN'T MEAN I'M QUIET

Life is always about making choices. Making choices sometimes very taxing.  Taxing means needing a great amount of physical or mental effort.

Year 6 pupils are now busy with their Pasca UPSR activities; however, some of them involve in a lot of competitions here and there...

Now I am working with groups from Year 4 and Year 5.  Introducing them the use of this blog in improving their understanding of the language. This is the reason of being silent...SILENCE DOESN'T MEAN I'M QUIET...

PERSONAL VALUE

Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing

It's relatively easy to work out the prices of THINGS because they can be measured, weighed, or appraised. But life's greatest treasures are intangible and, therefore, immeasurable. I can borrow a cup of sugar, but not a cup of love. I can buy four pounds of beef, but not four pounds of forgiveness. And I can rent an 800 square foot apartment, but not 800 square feet of wisdom.

It is easier to sell shoes than to sell life insurance because shoes are tangible; their value is obvious. But the value of goodness, or virtue, may not be immediately or readily clear. So, it's not surprising that, as Oscar Wilde (1856 ~ 1900) quipped, "Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing."

When commenting on the tangible versus the intangible, Albert Einstein (1879 ~ 1955) said, "Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts." So, it's time for us to ask ourselves, "What counts? What are the true, meaningful, and lasting values? These questions are intimately woven into our very nature and their significance is explained by John Galt (1779 ~ 1839):

"Man has been called a rational being, but rationality is a matter of choice - and the alternative his nature offers him is: rational being or suicidal animal. Man has to be man - by choice; he has to hold his life as a value - by choice; he has to learn to sustain it - by choice; he has to discover the values it requires and practice his virtues - by choice. A code of values accepted by choice is a code of morality."

Yes, a job, money, and possessions have value, but their value is in what they add to life. And what they add is spice. They represent the salt and pepper of life. The meat of life consists of the intangibles: friendships, relationships, love, service, creativity, civility, kindness, and spirituality, to name a few. Our values form our character and define us. They shape who we are. They are what make us memorable. Our values are what make us valuable. They give our life meaning, purpose, and direction. They guide our choices and direct our lives.

It is because of their importance that we need to pause occasionally, take stock of ourselves, and make sure we haven't lost sight of what is really significant. What values should you be focusing on? One of the beautiful things about life is that we are all unique and can contribute to it differently. So, you will have to decide for yourself what values to embrace and use as the guiding principles of your life. However, just to get the ball rolling, I will suggest a few values that are worthy of consideration, and later you can build your own list.

1. VALUE YOURSELF. Why? Marcus T. Cicero (c. 106 ~ 43 BC) explains, "You will be as much value to others as you have been to yourself." Besides, as Leo F. Buscaglia wrote, "Value yourself. The only people who appreciate a doormat are people with dirty shoes." Get to know and cherish yourself. Become familiar with your own strengths and weaknesses. Use your strengths to help others and your weaknesses to improve yourself. And keep in mind the words of Albert Einstein, ""Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value."

2. VALUE COMPASSION. True, William Hazlitt (1778 ~ 1830) did write, "The least pain in our little finger gives us more concern and uneasiness than the destruction of millions of our fellow-beings." But prove him wrong by showing you wish to lessen the suffering of others. We can all do our share and in our own way. Although it's admirable to send donations to help those in need thousands of miles away, begin by having compassion for yourself and your immediate family, then your coworkers and friends, and, finally, the strangers you meet.

3. VALUE PASSION. Enthusiasm and passion energize our lives. But not unbridled passion, not reckless enthusiasm, for as Sam Keen writes, "The value of passion, like fire, is judged finally by the amount of warmth and light it creates. Fanatics, like forest fires, burn bright but destroy all in their path that is tender and green. To be useful, fire must be confined. To live passionately, we must develop discipline; to love powerfully, we must forge bonds of commitment. Passion is inseparable from compassion."

4. VALUE KNOWLEDGE. Although almost everyone is familiar with the expression "Knowledge is power," a surprisingly large number of people misunderstand the meaning of knowledge. They think anything written in a book is knowledge. However, if I were to write a book on how a UFO landed in my backyard and its passengers abducted me and later returned me to my own bed, such a book would be a collection of words, not a collection of facts. Knowledge is a collection of facts, not words. If we truly value knowledge, we will approach every subject with honest skepticism. We learn with a questioning mind and become indoctrinated with an unquestioning one. That's why Buddha (568 ~ 488 BC) taught, "Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense." Finally, knowledge is power, but only when we use it, so don't just read, but apply what you learn.

5. VALUE KINDNESS. Everyone can make a major contribution to the world by embracing the values of kindness and tenderness. Your kindness warms the hearts of others, relieves their burdens, and makes them feel valuable. To live a life of kindness we need to remember two things. First, one kind act is worth more than a dozen good intentions. Second, be kinder to your enemies than they are to their friends.

6. VALUE TIME. When we value time, we put it to good use. When we waste it, we trivialize it. Charles Darwin (1809 ~ 1882) aptly stated, "A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life."

7. VALUE MENTORING. Whether you wish to or not, you are influencing others. You may be influencing them for the better or for the worse. You may be uplifting them or tearing them down. If we value mentoring or coaching, we become a source of encouragement and inspiration and help to make the world a better place.

Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770 ~ 1831) taught, "Life has a value only when it has something valuable as its object." So, when we center our lives on values, we become valuable. The value of life, then, is not determined by its length, but how we put it to use. Wealth is not riches; possessions are not abundance, and self is not everything, but values bring meaning, purpose, and direction to life. A modest, simple life filled with meaning is worth far more than an elaborate, splendiferous one that is meaningless. So, let's reconsider our values and cultivate those that are badly needed, for the world is counting on us.

Cancer led me to My Creator. A STORY OF REPENTANCE ~

This is an interesting account of a true story of Layla Al Helw, a Moroccan woman who had been afflicted by cancer, and the doctors were completely helpless to cure her. The best specialists of Europe had no hope for her recovery even Layla herself lost all hope - but Allah Subhanuhu wa ta'ala (SWT) had the solution Sister Layla to tells of her 'Imaan-boosting' story in her own words as it is originally a translation from French, please do excuse any grammatical errors. Translated, edited and abridged from the book titled: "Those who repented to Allah", written by: Ibrahim Abdullah Al Hazemy.

Layla says: 9 years ago I found out that I have a very dangerous disease, cancer.. everyone here knows even the mention of this name is scary!" My faith in Allah was very weak. I had completely drifted away from the remembrance of Allah SWT, and I used to think that one's beauty and health shall remain all her life.. I never ever thought I would be afflicted by a disease like cancer.. and so when I found out, it did shake me so strongly from the inside..

I thought of escaping.. but, where? Where in the world I can escape from this disease that is inside me wherever I go? I thought of committing suicide! but.. I was deeply in love with my husband and my children.. I did not think of Allah's punishment if I committed such a sin!.. because, as I told you before, I was far away from remembering Allah.. It was of Allah's will that this disease was the reason for my guidance and the reason for guiding a lot of people as well.. I went to Belgium, and I visited many doctors there.. they told my husband that I first have to remove my breasts, then go on certain medication! I knew that such medication would make my hair fall and my eye lashes and brows to disappear.. it shall also grow a beard on my face and make the nails and teeth fall as well... so I completely refused this solution..

"I would rather die with my breasts, teeth and everything that Allah has created for me than to live without them", I said... I asked the doctors to give me another medicate! ion course that is less effective.. and so they did.. went back to Morocco.. I used the medication course and it did not have any bad effects on my body which made me so happy.. I thought; maybe the doctors were wrong and I didn't have cancer... However, after about six months, I started losing weight quickly, my color started to change and I had a continuous pain.. My Moroccan doctor advised me to go back to Europe, and so I did.. There, in Belgium, was the disaster!.. the doctors told my husband that the disease has spread all over my body, that the lungs were completely infected and that they now have no solution for my case... they said: "you better take your wife back to her country so that she dies there!".. My husband got shocked... and instead of going back to Morocco, we went to France thinking that we might reach to a solution there... But, we got in France, nothing more than what we achieved to in Belgium!

Finally, we decided to enter the hospital to remove my breasts through a surgical therapy and go on the strong medication (the doctors prescribed before).. However.. my husband thought of something that we had always forgot.. something that was always too far away from our thoughts, sadly.. God inspired my husband to take me to His holy house in Mecca.. maybe we can stand in front of Allah and ask Him to help us find away out of this problem... We left Paris saying: "Allaho Akbar, La Ilaha Illa Allah" (Allah is the Greatest, No God but Allah)... I was very happy because this was the first time for me to visit the Holy House of Allah and see the "Kaaba".. I bought a copy of the Quran from Paris, I did not even have that with me before that!... And we went to Mecca... When I entered the holy mosque and first saw the Kaaba I cried a lot.. the sight, of the place of worship of the prophets of God, the Holy Mosque, the multitude of Muslims and Majesty, the Bounty and the sheer Splendour of my Lord, Allah...! I was crying because I couldn’t face all this, because I regretted all those past years I had spent without praying and seeking Allah's help... I said: "O' Lord, the doctors were disabled to cure me... (You) have the cure for every disease.. All the doors are locked in front of me.. I have nothing left to seek except Your door, so please.. please Lord, don't close Your door on me..."

I kept on praying to Allah and making Doa'a while I was going around the Kaaba.. I asked Him not to disappoint me or send me back with empty hands. As I said before, I was completely ignorant regarding the religion of Allah, so I went to the scholars there and asked them to guide me to the little books and supplications that can be easy to read.. They adviced me to read as much as I can from the Quran.. They have also adviced me to make a lot of "Tadhalloo" from Zamzam water!(Tadhalloo: is to drink a lot of water until the water reaches your ribs)... They have also adviced me to mention Allah's name a lot and make Salat on the prophet SAAWS.. In Allah's holy place I felt very peaceful and relieved.. I asked my husband to allow me to not go back to the hotel and stay in the "Haram" all the time (the holy mosque).. He gave me his permission to stay there.. In the holy mosque, there were some Egyptian and Turkish sisters beside me, who saw me crying a lot.. They asked me about the reason.. I told them that I came to the holy house of Allah and I never thought I would love it that much!

I also told them that I have cancer.. They kept beside me all the time and did not leave me.. they also took the permission of their husbands to stay with me at the mosque... During that time, we rarely slept.. we ate very little quantities of food.. but we drank a lot of "Zamzam" water.. And as the prophet SAAWS said, "Zamzam water is for whatever you drink it for, If you drink it for the intention of being cured, Allah SWT shall cure you.. If you drink it because you are thirsty, Allah shall quench you out of thirst..." etc. and so we didn't feel hungry.. We kept on doing Tawaf (goingaround the Kaaba)continuously.. and read Quran a lot.. This was the way we were day and night.. When I came to the holy house of God I was very thin, and the upper part of my body and my breasts were filled with swells, blood and pus... This was! because the cancer had completely spread all through the upper part of my chest... so the sisters kept on begging me to wash the upper part of my body with Zamzam water.. but I was very afraid to even touch it.. I was afraid to remember my sickness, because hen that sickness shall occupy my thoughts instead of remembering Allah and worshipping Him in complete submission.... hence I was always washing my body without touching the part affected by cancer.. On the fifth day, my friends insisted that I should go over my whole body with Zamzam water..

At the beginning I refused.. but I felt something forcing me to do it! I slowly started trying to go through the parts I always avoided, over my chest.. but I became frightened again... then I felt this thing forcing me again.. I hesitated... and on the third turn. I forced my hand to the upper part of my body and finally went over my breasts. Something unbelievable happened.. there were no swells.. no blood.. no pus!!! I couldn't believe what I felt.. I went over my breasts with my hand again, and it was true! Yes that was true!.. I shivered!! But I remembered that Allah SWT is capable of doing anything whatsoever.... I asked one of my friends to touch my body with her hand and look for the swells.. she did!.. and they all automatically shouted: Allahu Akbar.. Allahu Akbar!! I ran to my husband in the hotel... When I saw him, I tore my shirt up and said: "look at Allah's Mercy!" I told him ! of what happened and he couldn't believe it!!.. He cried and cried.. He said: "Do you know that the doctors swore that you shall die within a period of three weeks only"? .. I said: all fate is within the Hands and Will of Allah (Praised be He), no one knows what the future is holding for us except for Him SWT.. We stayed in the holy house of Allah for one week, I thanked Him for His uncountable Graces..

Then we went to the prophet's mosque in Medina.. then we traveled to France.. There, the doctors were confused and surprised.. they nearly become crazy!! "Are you the same person?!", they asked me.. I was very proud to say: YESS!! .. and this is my husband.. we have returned to God.. and I now fear nothing but Allah SWT.. The fate is from Him SWT.... They told me that mine is a very strange case.. they said they want to examine me again.. They did it again, and they found... nothing! Before, I could hardly breath because of the swells.. but when I went to Allah's holy place and asked Him to cure me, the cancer has all gone... I looked for the "seerah" (biography) of the Prophet (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam) and his companions (may Allah be pleased with them).. I read them and I cried a lot.. I cried, as I was regretting all that I have missed in my past life.. I missed the love of allah and His prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam)... I, a humble slave of My Lord, who ! should have Loved Allah with all my soul, had spent my love, for all these years, on meaningless things of this world.... I cried for the time I have wasted away from Allah SWT.

My Creator..... time which we should all spend worshipping Allah whilst loving Him truly, and loving the Messenger by following His Noble Example, his Sunnah and the Hadiths... I ask Allah to forgive me, my husband and all Muslims... and to accept me as His sincere worshipper. And when My slaves ask you concerning Me, then I am indeed near. I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me. So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led right.(Qur'an 2:186)The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhiwassallam) has said that: " Zamzam water is what one intends to drink it for. When one drinks it to be healed, Allah heals him; when one drinks it to be full, Allah makes him full; and when one drinks it to quench his thirst, Allah quenches it. "

Lots of sleep and sudden death

Allah almighty ordered us to pray in night (the last third period of night) as it is considered to be the most important kind of worshiping Allah the only creator, what is the new about the importance of waking up in the night?…
Allah says in the holly Qur’an about this life:”O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.”[Sûrat Ghâfir (The Forgiving)- verse 39].so, every work for not the sake of Allah is indeed worth nothing in the day of resurrection when no work will benefit human except done works for the sake of Allah. One of the great works in Islam is the prayer in night because the believer don’t sleep a lot of time as he or she is concerning about the hereafter and the day when he or she will stand in frontof Allah the creator.
But couple of years ago some studies had been published to confirm that sleeping for a long time is good and can be a reason for a long life. Here, some kind of contradiction did occur between science and Qur’an. How can we understand the science facts while Allah orders us a reverse order to that science?
Always, we have to understand a golden rule that the Qur’an is always right even there is a contradiction between science and Qur’an because one day the rightness of the Qur’an will be clear to all people.
That calls us to claim that this scientific fact is wrong, and that what exactly happened! The new studies had confirmed that sleeping many hours may limit the life of people. According to the latest researches some American researchers did confirm that  women who sleeps many hours are exposed to cardiovasculardiseases more than others who don’t sleep that much. Also another research did confirm that waking up in night Prolong life.
According to stoke medical magazine, the researchers found that there is a  high probability for infecting by Ischemic Stroke which is up to  70 % between women who sleeps nine hours or more in the night.
The study was done on about 93000 women between 50 and 79 years and after seven years of researching, the researchers found that 1166 of them was subject to Ischemic Stroke which prevents the oxygen from the brain which leads to death.
Also they found that the probability of infecting by that stroke is 14% in the women who sleeps 6 hours or less and it’s 24%in women who sleeps 8 hours or more and 70% in women who sleeps 9 hours.

A photo for an ill heart as doctors say that long sleep helps in the disorder of heart’s muscle and there are many studies which links between the long sleep and the sudden death , also the researchers believe that waking up for half an hour at night is very useful to activate the heart and feeds it with oxygen because heart and brain may be affected by a deficit in oxygen so human may die because of that, so they advise people to wake up for a little time at night to activate brain and heart
Here we only say, glory to Allah! Isn’t an Islamic order which was mentioned by the prophet 1400 years ago!!! The prophet was a perfect guide for Muslim as he used to wake up at night to pray to Allah. Today, doctors and researchers advise us to follow these activities. What a great religion.
But the difference between what they do and what we do is that they do it for this life but we Muslims do it for Allah.
So, my brothers and sisters you have to follow the guidance of our prophet as it is a great worship to Allah almighty as the prophet peace be upon him told us that a one prayer at the end of the night is better than the whole world.
At the end I want to add my personal experience as I used for the last 15 years to be awake till the “Fajr” to understand the Qur’an and to figure out its meanings and I found that this increases my creation and happiness.Glory to Allah as He almighty gives me my provision from where I don’t expect because I believe in what Allah almighty tells us in the Qur’an: (And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty* And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine)
[
Sûrat At-Talâq (The Divorce)verse 2-3].
So, don’t worry for anything and don’t say if I pray at night how can I get my provision because He almighty promised us to deliver the livelihood of all creatures even the ant as He Almighty says: (And no (moving) living creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah. And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterous, grave, etc.). All is in a Clear Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz - the Book of Decrees with Allah)[Sûrat Hûd(Prophet) Hûd- verse 6].
